If you want to see bad acting, you can look no further than "dad" in this film, who woodenly delivers the lines "A rodeo? With automobiles? And you want
...
my permission to go out and kill yourself? In what amounts to a game of chicken?" As this is only a 15-minute film, there's little time to devote to debating this ridiculous assumption, so "dad" quickly changes his mind.
You won't be in shock to see cocky, skirt-chasing, blondish teenager Sandy almost running down a woman and a child due to his insouciance behind the wheel. Then comes the "realisation" scene where he dramatically shields his eyes with his hand as if he's blocking out the sun.
The short opens with the obligatory malt shop in generic Centerville, with '40s-style saxophone and muted trumpet music because, well, rock 'n' roll is evil, you know. And being the mid-'50s, cars must have fins--especially if they're all Chrysler products (guess who put up money for this film?). Our hero, Bob Deming, has a '57 Plymouth Fury. Sandy is in a '53 Dodge Coronet convertible.
Will Bob win the big national Road-E-O. Will he? Watch and find out, and hear Mr. Barlow's monotone speech at the end.
The Sam Fox library is used for at least part of the score, At 11:02 we hear "Hold 'Em" by Larry Simmons.

Subject: They'll Murder Me! They'll Murder Me!
I was all ready to hate this film just because this type of film has been done many a time before, a driving competition done by the adults for teens to
...
make them drive more carefully, but this film gets major thumbs up by just adding the most goofy actiing, stilted dialog, and, the best yet, my main man, John Galvarro (of Drug Addiction and Are You Ready For Marriage? fame appearing in the worst ever blonde hairjob! I didn't recognize him at first, but you just can't forget that voice. Anyways, this film is hilariously bad actually and is a MUST SEE on this site!
